Lafayette Scale Modelers Contest 2008

The model contest was hosted by IPMS Lafayette Scale Modelers, The venue was the Kiwanas Recreation Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Although it wasn't a large venue, it proved to be large enough for the contest and was a good location. The contest was run well, everything was on schedule, and the judging was very consistent and fair. We all thought the judges did a very good and thorough job. We traveled with 8 members of our club, 6 entered models and 2 went for the vendors, the raffle and the fun of the event. We also visited two local hobby shops and wery extremely impressed. Hayes Hobby House and The Hobbit were two excellent hobby shops. We all agreed that it would be worth a trip up to Fayetteville just to visit these two stores. Back at the contest, we cleaned up at the raffle table found numerous deals among the vendors, and won 29 awards in 20 different categories, including one of the special awards. It was the most successful contest our club has ever experienced. The contest finished on time as advertised, getting out and onto the highway was easy, travel back home was also easy and we had a very memorable and fun time together. If the guys at IPMS Lafayette have a contest again next year, they can count on us to be there.
